Fulani-01
The Fulani people are believed by some to have originally come from the upper Nile. On reaching Nigeria, some converted to Islam, and spread the religion West to Mali and Guinea, where they settled as farmers or traders. Some remained nomadic, resisting all ouside influences and cultural change. Among the semi-nomadic Fulani in Niggeria, the status of a woman is demonstrated by the ownership of intricately carved calabashes (gourds). This design is based on the carved calabashes.
