Code: Baoule-01
Bronze anklets of great weight, adorned with intricate designs, were forged onto Baoule women's legs, as part of their dowries. The wearing of these was forbidden by the Liberian government in the mid twentieth century, and these anklets were subsequently used as curency. Baoule designs are influenced by the detailed art of the Benin.
