With decoration based on the triangle motifs of the Baluba group of tribes from central Africa, and with the lettershapes fitting a tight grid, the letterforms echo the decorative but repetitive nature of much of the art of the Baluba. Tlhe "Tri" in the font name refers to the TRIangular nature of the decorative element.

The fact that the BalubaTri fonts have full character sets (UPPER and lower case) and all punctuation and all special characters, means that they can be used in just about any African design context. The fonts include characters for English, French, Italian, German, Danish, Swedish, and Portugese.
